I agree, some organization is needed indeed. However, from the first two that I attended I do not remember having to pay and I had the best time ever. I would pay, But I still agree that public transportation is the way to go!

Just feels like something that was sooooo good and simple has turned into a money making party. Free+booze exchange+public transportation= BEST SANTACON EVER!

The event is always more fun if someone steps up to the plate and organizes it. This takes time and often money.

I think that is a great idea! How about we all bring a bottle of booze to share as a present!

Well...how about we start our own Santacon and come up with an even more creative name and instead of paying, we just all bring a gift and/or good spirits and voices to carol for the less fortunate. Wise Santa

Well, I don't know about Santa but all I can find is "The Los Angeles Santacon start location will only be shared with those who have a sleigh pass. You need to buy your sleigh pass by December 1st. That means you need to decide if you are going before December 1st." which was posted on Nov 24th. This approach is not unusual but hardly qualifies as "all kinds of info" - are we looking at the right site? There's only one link here.

If Santa went to the site, you would see that Santa has all kinds of info about it.

The LA Santacon seems to be a paid event. I can't find any more info than from that heathervescent website but they want $21 and don't provide any info.
